The Bois de Boulogne is a park located along the western edge of the 16ème arrondissement of Paris, and has an area of 8.459 km². It has a very dense vegetation dominated in particular by oak trees, and also locust and cherry trees. Hornbeams, beeches, limes, cedars, redwoods, chestnuts and elm trees are also found at The Bois de Boulogne.
Ideal for a leisurely a stroll, the Bois de Bologne is enriched with history and also features an abundance of amenities for visitors to the park. Rustic lawns and clumps of forests are intertwined by 35 kilometres of footpaths, eight kilometres of cycle paths and 29 kilometres of riding tracks.
The Bois de Boulogne also offers visitors many sporting amenities including tracks, a swimming pool, riding clubs, and stadiums. There are multiple and varied leisure pursuits, including cafes and restaurants, playgrounds and picnic areas, concessions, as well as boat and bicycle hire. For relaxation, the Bois de Boulogne offers Auteuil, Bagatelle and Pr-Catalan glasshouses as well as an open-air theatre and the unforgettable Musée des Arts et Traditions Populaires. The northern part of the Bois is occupied by the Jardin d'Acclimatation amusement park.
