Hotel description Tucked behind the pre-revolution Place des Vosges, the Turenne Le Marais is a renovated 19th century, six storey stone building with 41 guest rooms. All rooms have courtesy tray and mini bar for your refreshment, cable TV, phone with fax and en suite bathroom with hairdryer. The concierge will help with information, tours, tickets and laundry and the reception desk is open 24 hours a day. Pets are welcome to stay too.
The Marais area is one of Paris' most enchanting neighbourhoods. There are dozens of bars, cafes and restaurants and it is the centre of the capital's gay community. The Rue des Rosiers is the focal point of Jewish lifestyle and the Ile St Louis and Ile de la Cité are the oldest parts of Paris. The Turenne Le Marais is a stone's throw from the Place des Vosges and here you will find the Picasso Museum and Victor Hugo's house. The vast Carnavalet Museum, devoted to the history of Paris, occupies two adjoining mansions and includes entire decorated rooms with panelling, furniture and many works of art. The main building, The Hôtel Carnavalet, was built as a town house in 1548 and is a Renaissance jewel that in the mid-1600s became the home of writer Madame de Sévigné. The 17th century Hôtel le Peletier was added to the museum in 1989 to contain the larger part of the museum's 20th century interiors. The Cognacq Jay museum contains one of the finest collections of 18th century painting and objets d'art and is housed in the restored Hotel Donon.
