The Richmond Opéra was built in 1900 and offers over 100 years experience as a hotel. It has been renovated in a mixture of the Empire and Louis XV styles but with all the modern conveniences you could wish for. The lounge has a beautiful stained glass ceiling and marble and mirror décor and is a great place to enjoy a paper over afternoon tea or a relaxing drink in the evening. The 58 guest rooms are all air conditioned andd have en suite bathroom with hairdryer. There is an in room safe, direct dial phone and satellite TV as well as a useful fridge. The reception desk is open 24 hours a day and is more than happy to help with arranging trips, entertainment and car rental. Room service is available, though not 24 hours.
As its name suggests the Richmond Opéra is a mere 100m from the Opera Garnier, which was named after the architect who designed it in 1862 and was immortalized by writer Gaston Leroux in his Phantom of the Opera. The architecture is a mixture of baroque, classical, Greek and Napoleonic styles. Adorned with mosaics, the foyer has a cupola decorated by painter Marc Chagall. If you love to shop you are a stone's throw from the wonderful department stores of Galeries Lafayette and Le Printemps where you can enjoy retail therapy and admire award winning architecture at the same time. Stroll down towards the River Seine and take in the Tuileries, Paris' most fashionable place to promenade since the 1600s.
