Hotel description
Located in the fashionable Left Bank area of Paris, Le Colbert is a restored 19th century building found in a quiet side street facing the Gothic splendour of Notre Dame cathedral. You enter through a wrought iron gate and pretty courtyard and inside the décor is in keeping with the period retaining many of the original features, for example the breakfast room is a stunning stone vaulted cellar. The 39 guest rooms are all air conditioned and have en suite bathroom with hairdryer, satellite TV, mini bar and modem. You can order refreshment from room service 24 hours a day or have a relaxing drink in the bar. The concierge service can organise services such as laundry and limousine hire and even private tours.
Notre Dame cathedral is so close to the Le Colbert that you can see it from many of the hotel room windows. It has a 7800 pipe organ and a spectacular 10m rose window dating from the 13th century. Under the square of Notre Dame is the largest archaeological crypt in Europe, now a museum showing the life and scenes of the Ile de la Cité from the third to the nineteenth century. If you need some greenery, the 25 hectares of the Jardin du Luxembourg is a short stroll from the Le Colbert and here you can enjoy the formal gardens as well as activities such as boules, puppet theatres and model boat sailing. The Latin Quarter itself is full of international restaurants and student bars and cafes.
