The Lautrec Opera is a typical old Parisian building which was once the home of the French artist Toulouse Lautrec. It is now a friendly, 60 roomed hotel in the centre of the capital which offers guests every comfort. If you are interested in history, a 2km walk will take you to the Place de la Concorde, once the site of executions during the French Revolution and now dominated by the Obelisk of Luxor. A short stroll will take you to the Opera Garnier, a prime example of the second empire style of architecture where you can listen to wonderful opera and marvel at the six ton crystal chandelier.
The art galleries of the Louvre and the Museum d Orsay are on the doorstep of the Lautrec Opera, and the Opera district itself has a good array of shops, restaurants and cafes of various styles. For serious shopping, make sure you stroll to the Galleries Lafayette where there are thousands of shops under a glass dome and even a champagne bar.
