The Jardins de Paris Montmartre was completely renovated in 2006 and offers 38 bright and modern soundproofed guest rooms which have en suite bathroom, satellite TV, direct dial phone and WiFi internet access. The staff at reception, which is open 24 hours a day, are only to pleased to help with fax and copying as well as tickets and trips. There is a comfortable lounge and breakfast room, and pets are welcome.
The 18ième district is an arty residential neighbourhood which has the feel of a small village. Many of the original features still exist such as the Moulin la Galette which is one of the two windmills in the area. Montmartre also contains Paris'last remaining vineyard. The area around the Jardins de Paris Montmarte was the stamping ground of the artistic community and today's artists still display their work in the Place du Tertre where Van Gogh, Renoir and Picasso once had their easels. Next door is the Espace Montmartre Salvador Dali which contains sculptures, lithographs and illustrations by the famous Spanish Surrealist. The climb up to the top of the Butte de Montmartre to the Romano Byzantine basilica of Sacré Cœur is worth the effort an the 234 spiral steos to the dome will give you an unparalleled view over the city. You can always take the funicular railway down. In the evening a trip to the famous Moulin Rouge night club is a must. Enjoy the cabaret with a champagne supper.
