Hotel description The Hotel du Louvre is a stylish, four-star boutique hotel overlooking the Louvre. It was the first luxury hotel in France, built on the orders of Napolean III in 1855 to receive the visitors to the Universal Exposition. The hotel is consequently surrounded by art, fashion and culture with the Champs Elysees only a ten-minute walk away. Looking out from the hotel across Paris, famous landmarks punctuate the view in every direction. On one side guests can gaze upon the Louvre Museum, on another - the Opera House Garnier and from the third and fourth the Comedie Francaise and the Palais Royal. The hotel can even claim to having inspired the author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle who featured the Hotel du Louvre in several of his famous Sherlock Holmes detective stories.
The Hotel's Brasserie specialises in fresh seafood as well as traditional French cuisine and has a terrace for al fresco dining in summer. The seductive red and black interior of the Defender Bar is a favourite with locals, artists, businessmen and tourists. The 8 well equipped meeting and function rooms can accommodate up to 200 delegates and the state of the art business centre is open 24 hours a day.
When you need a change of pace, use of the Hotel du Louvre's fitness centre is complimentary to guests seven days a week. All of the equipment for a complete workout stands amidst wooden floors and pale walls to create a calm and modern space to exercise.
