The 3rd arrondissement, located on the Right Bank, comprises the northern, more quiet part of the medieval district of Le Marais. A small but rapidly expanding Chinatown, is located on rue au Maire, near the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers. Housed in the medieval priory of Saint-Martin-des-Champs, the district is notably inhabited by immigrants from Wenzhou, and Mainland China.
The oldest surviving private house of Paris, built in 1407, is located in the 3rd arrondissement, on rue de Montmorency.
